Eight-time Grammy-nominee Monáe is floating like a butterfly and stinging like a bee on the first single from her new era of music, “Float,” featuring Seun Kuti and Egypt 80.
“I don’t step, I don’t walk, I don’t dance, I just float, float, float, float,” she proudly says over horns and music by Seun Kuti, the son of famous Nigerian musician Fela Kuti, and Fela Kuti’s band Egypt 80.
“I’m light as a feather, I’m light as a feather, yeah, baby, I float,” she raps, “It’s hard to look at my resume, hoo, and not find a reason to toast. She throwin’ that thang in a circle, makin’ in viral, I might just elope. Say, “Listen lil’ mama, you like shibari? Watch while I show you the ropes.’”
